Companion Car Rental Service Form
Rental Requirements
To rent a vehicle, the client must:
• Be at least 21 years old.
• Present a valid passport or national ID.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Provide a credit card for the deposit ($500 for foreigners).
• Clients aged 21-25 must pay an additional $10 per day (Under Age Fee).
• If using a credit card’s insurance (CDW), there is a mandatory charge of $10 per day.
• Accepted credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Diner’s Club.
Insurance & Protection Options
The client can select from the following protections:
• Collision Damage Waiver (C.D.W.)
Covers damages and rollovers with a $1,000 deductible. Invalid if contract violations occur.
• Third-Party Liability Insurance (T.P.I.)
Mandatory and cannot be declined. Deductible is 20% of third-party damages.
• Theft Protection (T.P.)
Covers theft of the vehicle with a $2,000 deductible. Does not cover stolen personal items.
• Full Coverage Option
Eliminates deductibles from all coverages.
• Deposit Reduction:
If the client selects all protections, the deposit is reduced to $100.
Vehicle Pick-Up & Drop-Off Policies
• Free pick-up & drop-off: Available within a 20 km radius for rentals of 3+ days (this will be reduced to 15 km after December 16, 2025).
• Drop-off fee ($50 + VAT) applies if the rental is under 3 days and returned to a different Alamo office (not applicable within the GAM area).
• One-day rentals: Pick-up only available at designated Alamo offices.
Liability Release Agreement
The renter acknowledges and agrees that:
• They are fully responsible for any traffic violations or fines incurred during the rental period.
• The company is not liable for any personal belongings left inside the vehicle.
• The renter must comply with Costa Rican traffic laws and usage restrictions stated in the rental contract.
• Any damages resulting from reckless driving, unauthorized drivers, off-road use, or contract violations will not be covered by insurance
